I usually have 6th grade students create a Google Slideshow about a chosen career using the BLS website, however I am interested in offering other options that would have the same intended outcome?
Any ideas other than: I demonstrate how to create shapes and text boxes, using both Google Docs and Microsoft Word. They create their own designs. They've done infographics for Career Pathways as well as showcasing a specific career.
I also have my 6th graders do a poster in Publisher not too different from an infographic. My project is more about relating their skills and interests to careers, but I could see the posters or infographics being great because then you could hang them up in the hallway or your room for other students to read.
My project is in Publisher, but you could do a similar poster in Google Drawings if you don't have that access.
I have also used Piktochart with 6th graders for infographics. Canva is a free site with Infographic templates.
It is nice for them to know that Google Slides has lots of options beyond just a presentation tool. A whole different angle would be to create a quiz about the Career using Google Slides.
